Wolfmen was founded originally back in 1984 and was named after ”Wolfman Howl”, a song by The Vibrators. After evolving from a sideproject to a main act the band released it's first recorded songs ”Vamp/Machine Gun Jesus” on a split EP in 1988, followed by an own-expensed single ”Zombie Hop/ A Hectic Mission” in 1990. The A-side ”Zombie Hop” ended up in a compilation- CD released by a respected guitarrock-fanzine Noise for Heroes and had a lot of radioplay. Also in 1990 came out the first Hiljaiset Levyt -release, a single ”I'm Insane/Lost”.

Wolfmen has previously released three albums under the Hiljaiset Levyt label. ”The Shadow War”, 1992, earned a fabulous 4 K's in Kerrang! and a full 5 stars in Moshable. The second album ”Brutal” was released in 1994 and after that the band gigged for example in Stralsund Festivals in Germany. ”Urban Voodoo”, 1998, got brilliant reviews eg. from the rock-press in Central-Europe, USA and Canada.

The musical style of Wolfmen is propably best described by a saying ”guitar-rock contaminated by punk”, in which the idols from early 70's, like Slade and the glamrock of that era, shake hands with Sex Pistols, The Ramones and The Clash - the mindblowers from the end of that same decade. In spite of this, Wolfmen sounds itself and has a unique style to play rock, which is very difficult to categorize in any specific genre.

In January 2010 Wolfmen and Hiljaiset Levyt will release a new album ”Boothill Express”, which is produced by Wolfmen and Jani Viitanen, who was also responsible for the engineering. The album was mastered by one of Finland's top guys in the field, Svante Forsbäck in Chartmakers. ”Boothill Express” contains 13 new Wolfmen songs, definetely the best and most versatile album in band's career so far. The approval and commentary of three singles released earlier via internet, give high expectations for the album.
